Sunshine Coast AA History

The history of the Alcoholics Anonymous on the Sunshine Coast began with the first meeting being held on 4th Feb 1972. It was a Friday night and the location was the Maroochydore Tennis Club. Ben B. was one of the original members that helped organise this inaugural meeting, that meeting was known as the Sunshine Coast Group. Since then Alcoholics Anonymous on the Sunshine Coast has flourished with the inclusion of not only night meetings but lunchtime and breakfast meetings. In total the Sunshine Coast hosts around 40 meetings of all types and formats. There are Speaker meetings, ID meetings, Topic meetings, Steps & Traditions meetings, Big Book Study meetings, Men’s meetings, Women’s meetings, Spiritual Concept meetings and Discussions meetings.

The region falls within Area B and we are serviced by District 9.
