To someone deep in the grips of alcoholism, alcohol at first seems to present a solution to life’s challenges and is not a problem, until the disease overwhelms the sufferer with despair and ill health. The solution is the tried and tested 12 Step Program of Alcoholic Anonymous.
That was the message U.S. guest speakers Clancy I. and Mary M. delivered to close to 150 AA members from the Sunshine Coast and beyond at a special Founders’ Day AA meeting at the Coolum Civic Centre, Saturday evening 11 June.
Members of the Pacific Group in Los Angeles, California, both Clancy and Mary have previously addressed AA meetings across Europe, the Americas and Asia. Clancy celebrates his 90th biological birthday later this year and enjoys 58 years of recovery.
